TreasureBoat — Privacy Policy

Applies to the TreasureBoat framework, the TreasureBoat IntelliJ plugin, and the TBConnect, TreasureBoat Desktop, TreasureBoat Vision, TreasureBoat Mobile and TreasureBoat TV apps.

1. Who we are

TreasureBoat (the “Vendor”) develops the TreasureBoat framework, the TreasureBoat Coding Tools plugin for IntelliJ-based IDEs, and the TBConnect, TreasureBoat Desktop, TreasureBoat Vision, TreasureBoat Mobile and TreasureBoat TV applications. This policy explains what these tools collect, why, and what we do not do with it. Questions go to office@treasureboat.org.

These are developer tools. They are used to reach your own TreasureBoat servers, and they are not advertising-supported. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and there is no third-party analytics or tracking in any of them.

2. What we collect

Your TreasureBoat ID and account details. To issue a license we hold the information you give us when you request one — typically your name, your login name, and an email address — together with the license issued against it. This is what identifies you to our server.

Device pairings. If you pair a device (for example approving TBConnect from the TreasureBoat app), our server records that a device was approved for you: an identifier for the device, a name describing it such as “TBConnect — your Mac”, and when it was approved. You can see your paired devices, and remove them, from the TreasureBoat app.

Ordinary server records. Our servers keep the sort of technical logs any web server keeps, so that the service can be operated and problems diagnosed.

3. What stays on your own device

Some things never leave the machine you are using:

4. What the apps send, and to whom

TBConnect talks to one place: the TreasureBoat server at treasureboat.org, over HTTPS. Each request is signed, and carries either your TreasureBoat ID or your device pairing so the server knows which links you are allowed to see. It sends nothing else, and it contacts no other service.

TreasureBoat Desktop, TreasureBoat Vision, TreasureBoat Mobile and TreasureBoat TV talk to the TreasureBoat server you pair them with, which is normally your own. Channel listings, video and monitoring data come from that server, over HTTPS, and each request carries the pairing so the server knows which device is asking. If the server you pair with is not ours, nothing in those apps reaches us at all.

The IntelliJ plugin contacts our server to retrieve and renew your license. The plugin itself is distributed through the JetBrains Marketplace, whose own privacy terms apply to the download.

5. How we use it

To issue and validate licenses, to decide which resources your account may see, to operate and secure the service, and to answer you when you contact us. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not process it for automated decisions that affect you.

6. Where it is held

Our servers are operated by the Vendor on infrastructure rented from commercial hosting providers, and some content — such as video files — may be served from a hosting provider’s storage or content-delivery network. Those providers process data on our instructions in order to run the service.

7. How long we keep it

Account and license information is kept for as long as your TreasureBoat ID is active, and afterwards only where we are required to keep records. Device pairings are kept until you remove the device or the pairing expires. Technical logs are kept only as long as they are useful for operating and securing the service.

8. Your choices

You can remove a paired device at any time from the TreasureBoat app, which revokes its access. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account and its data to be deleted, by writing to office@treasureboat.org. Deleting your account ends any license issued against it.

9. Security

Traffic between the apps and our servers uses HTTPS, and requests carry a signature so the server can tell they were not altered in transit. Pairing credentials are held in the operating system Keychain rather than in ordinary application storage. No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise; if something happens that affects you, we will tell you.

10. Children

These are professional development tools. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always at this page, and the date at the top says when it last changed.
